Alcest will be in Groningen on April 2, 2027 at SPOT/De Oosterpoort, delivering its idiosyncratic blend of blackgaze, shoegaze and post-rock. The project around Stéphane "Neige" Paut began as an intimate black metal experiment, but gradually the focus shifted toward dreamy melodies, saturated guitars and the characteristic interplay between clean vocals and harsher screams. Since Alcest began operating as a duo with drummer Winterhalter from 2009 onward, the music has also gained a genuine live band dynamic: tight and physical where needed, open and floating whenever the songs require space.
In the set you can expect that journey through the discography: from the early turning points toward more ethereal textures on Le Secret and Souvenirs d’un autre monde to the layered contrasts of Écailles de Lune. At the same time, this concert also aligns with the newer, darker and more contrast-rich chapters and the melancholic yet luminous register of Les Chants de l’aurore (2024).
