When it comes to British new wave and synthpop, Kim Wilde remains a fixture. Since her breakthrough in the early 1980s, she and her brother Ricky Wilde have built a recognizable sound: tight synths, pop-rock guitars, and choruses that linger in the mind. Albums such as Kim Wilde (1981), Select (1982) and Catch as Catch Can (1983) set the tone, after which she shifted toward a more radio-friendly pop rock on Teases & Dares (1984), Another Step (1986) and Close (1988). In the 1990s she explored a more mature pop side with Love Moves (1990) and Love Is (1992), before later returning to the studio with, among others, Never Say Never (2006) and Here Come the Aliens (2018), where she ties her 80s roots to melodic rock.
On 24 April 2027, Kim Wilde will perform at PLT - Theater Heerlen in Heerlen for a concert that cuts across her entire career: from early synthpop to later, stronger pop rock, driven by that quintessential Wilde blend of directness and melody.
