Demi-Portion, whose real name is Rachid Daïf, has been making his way since the mid-1990s, when he was opening for Fabe, La Fonky Family, or Rocca. Through a string of concerts and encounters, the Sète-based rapper forged his style, formed the duo Les Grandes Gueules with Sprinter, and then launched his solo career in 2008. Projects, mixtapes, and EPs: he keeps moving forward without losing the thread of the hip-hop culture that built him.
With the album La Bonne École, released in January 2020, Demi-Portion—often referred to as Demi P—returns to boom-bap, not out of nostalgia, but as a logical continuation. Across 18 tracks, he invokes both the intimate and the political urgency, with his usual frankness, and surrounds himself with voices from diverse horizons: Bigflo and Oli, Scylla, Grand Corps Malade, or Davodka, not to mention nods to Sète. Demi-Portion will perform in concert on April 9, 2027 at L’Arlequin, in Mozac.
