On December 5, we will host The Blessed Madonna at Plano B, precisely on the day the club officially celebrates its 20th anniversary.
The Blessed Madonna, born Marea Stamper, is an American DJ, producer and musician, renowned for her genre-defying sets that blend house, disco and techno with a buoyant energy that leaves no one indifferent. Emerging from the Midwest US rave scene, she made history in 2016 by becoming the first woman to win Mixmag's DJ of the Year award.
A Kentucky native, Marea began her career in the late 1990s, selling mixtapes from the boot of her car before becoming a resident DJ and the first woman to serve as music curator at Chicago's legendary Smartbar. Her career has since taken her to the stages of major international festivals and to collaborations with pop artists. In 2020, she gained attention for curating and remixing Club Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa's remix project, which featured contributions from artists such as Madonna and Missy Elliott. She is also the lead figure and central voice behind "Marea (We've Lost Dancing)", the track that marked Fred again..'s international breakout.
In 2024, she released her debut studio album, Godspeed, featuring collaborations with Kylie Minogue, The Joy and Clementine Douglas. Beyond her musical career, she runs her own record label, We Still Believe, and is an advocate for social justice, actively supporting LGBTQ+ rights, prison reform and feminist causes worldwide.
