On March 17, 2027, Steve ’N’ Seagulls arrive at the Centre Gérard Philipe in Calais with their now-signature wide-ranging approach: taking hard rock and heavy metal anthems and recoding them in acoustic bluegrass. Born in Finland in 2014, the band enjoys passing electricity through stringed and bellows-driven instruments, without losing speed or impact. Banjo, mandolin, guitar, double bass, percussion: everything goes into transforming familiar riffs into rural cavalcades, with a groove that sits as much in rock as in folk. On stage, they play tight and move in a pack: brisk arrangements, collective call-backs, discreet but present humor. The classics from AC/DC, Metallica or Iron Maiden are cut to the bone, balancing virtuosity and raw energy, as if a string band had seized a metal set to make it dance differently. A concert conceived as a joyful detour, where precision serves the live show.
