Info

Arrested Development bring their alternative take on hip-hop to Glasgow on 2 September 2026 at Òran Mór. Formed in Atlanta by rapper-producer Speech and DJ Headliner, the collective emerged in the early 90s with a mix of Afrocentric rap, soul and funk, focusing on social, spiritual and political themes rather than the gangsta narratives of the era. Their breakthrough album 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of... (1992) delivered Tennessee, People Everyday and Mr. Wendal, titles that still shape their live sets. In 1993, the group became the first hip-hop act to win the Grammy for Best New Artist, and also took Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for Tennessee.

After a pause in the mid-90s, Arrested Development returned in 2000 with Speech at the helm, touring regularly and releasing albums on an independent path: Among the Trees, Since the Last Time, Strong, Standing at the Crossroads, This Was Never Home, Changing the Narrative, Craft & Optics, Don’t Fight Your Demons and For the FKN Love. On stage today: Speech with One Love, JJ Boogie and Fareedah Aleem, revisiting the early milestones alongside newer material.
