Born Clifton George Bailey III in St Mary, Jamaica, he emerged on Kingston’s dancehall circuit in the late 80s with a taut, rapid delivery that sits between deejay toasting and reggae singing. Early 90s singles like Alms House and Good So set a path built on Rastafari spirituality, social questions and a persistent fire imagery that runs through his lyrics. The mid‑90s brought Prophecy and I‑Testament, albums that widened his audience and opened bridges with US hip‑hop through collaborations with Method Man and Q‑Tip.
