Julia Jacklin

Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin brings her intimate, clear-eyed songwriting to Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on 17 February 2027. Raised in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, she shaped a sound where indie folk, indie rock, independent pop and a touch of alt-country meet in a stripped-back set-up built around voice, guitar and measured arrangements. After early steps with Salta and the trio Phantastic Ferniture, she launched her solo path with the EP Santafel (2014) and the debut album Don’t Let the Kids Win (2016), recorded in New Zealand with producer Ben Edwards. Crushing (2019) tightened the storytelling, finding a balance between melodic softness and sharper guitars, while Pre Pleasure (2022), made in Montreal, added density without losing its directness.

On stage, Jacklin moves between hushed folk and lean rock, keeping the vocals up front and the instrumentation uncluttered. The songs linger on the small shifts of everyday life, relationships and forms of vulnerability, with writing that prefers precision to grand gestures. A focused live set that lets the lyrics and melodies lead the way.
