The Mary Wallopers

The Mary Wallopers bring their Dundalk folk to Brighton on 17 October 2026 at Brighton Centre, Brighton and Hove. Formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy with their friend Sean McKenna, the group started as an acoustic trio reworking Irish ballads in local pubs, before growing into a fuller live band. Their sound is rooted in collective vocals, guitar and banjo, with the easy swing of tavern tunes and lyrics that blend popular tales, social snapshots and a dry sense of humour. On stage, they dig into the traditional songbook alongside their own material, keeping the delivery direct and unvarnished, closer to a session than a polished recital. A run of DIY videos and streamed gigs during the lockdown years helped shape their community feel and living‑room aesthetic, which still colours their shows today. The releases trace that path too: the early EP A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers (2019), a self‑titled debut in 2022, then Irish Rock ’n’ Roll in 2023, extending their mix of faithful reworkings and new songs. Expect a set built for voices to carry, stories to travel and the banjo to lead the way.
