Info
The Mary Wallopers bring their Dundalk-born folk to O2 Academy Leeds on 27 October 2026. Formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy with their friend Sean McKenna, the band began as an acoustic trio reworking Irish ballads in local pubs, then grew from homemade videos and living room livestreams into a touring outfit with an expanded lineup.
On stage, they lean into collective vocals, driving banjo and guitar, and the easy swing of tavern airs. The songs mix popular tales, social snapshots and a dry sense of humour, balancing reimagined traditionals with originals. The set draws across their first EP A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers, the self-titled album from 2022 and Irish Rock ’n’ Roll released in 2023, stitching together street songs, singalongs and darker narratives without gloss.
The group keeps the feel of a backroom session even in larger venues, with arrangements that stay direct and unvarnished. It is folk delivered up close, rooted in community and in the cadence of ballads that travel well from Dundalk to Leeds.
