On April 3, 2027, Wheeler Walker Jr. brings Pullin’ Out: The Farewell Tour to Midway Music Hall in Edmonton, Canada. The project of Ben Hoffman, a Lexington-born comedian and writer, Walker adopts a deadpan country singer persona to deliver songs built on classic Nashville craft and outlaw textures. First seen in a 2013 sketch, the character became a full-on music act with the Dave Cobb–produced Redneck Shit (2016), followed by Ol’ Wheeler (2017), WW III (2018), Sex, Drugs & Country Music (2022) and Ram (2023). The band sound leans on traditional arrangements, pedal steel and country rock drive, while the lyrics go for blunt sexual humor and pointed satire. On stage, that clash between polished twang and explicit comedy sets the tone: tight, old-school country playing undercuts punchlines that belong more to a late-night monologue than a front-porch ballad. Along the way, Walker’s shows have hit venues from Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to clubs across the U.S., with past bills alongside Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson and Nikki Lane.
