Only The Poets

Only The Poets, an English quartet straddling indie pop and alternative rock, will be on stage at Le Transbordeur in Villeurbanne on 22 September 2026. Fronted by the voice of Tommy Longhurst, the Reading-born band has developed, since the mid-2010s, a direct songwriting approach—first honed in small venues and through tracks shared online—before widening their reach across the UK and Europe.

Their music blends melodic guitars, immediate choruses and subtle electronic touches. The lyrics deal with a prolonged adolescence, relationships and mental health, transforming the intimate into songs with collective resonance. Heirs to the British indie of the 2000s while embracing structures close to contemporary pop, Only The Poets craft a live show that alternates between more restrained moments and passages that bring the whole venue together.

At Le Transbordeur, the band will present a set continually refreshed by new singles alongside well-established tracks. The performance is designed for live impact, where the balance between melody and rhythmic tension connects their early work to their recent releases.
