Moontricks, Presented by Winnipeg Folk Festival

Presented by Winnipeg Folk Festival, Moontricks lands at The Park Theatre in Winnipeg on October 16, 2026. Born in British Columbia’s Kootenays, the Canadian duo of producer Nathan Gurley and songwriter-vocalist Sean Rodman blends electronic production with North American folk roots. Their live show threads bass music, downtempo pulses and hints of glitch with acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and vocals tinged with blues and country.

From early festival sets in Western Canada to releases on Westwood Recordings, the pair has shaped songs built on melody and organic textures inside modern beats. Their 2022 album Currents pulled those strands together, moving from instrumental, bass-forward passages to pieces leaning toward an electronic take on Americana. On stage, Moontricks balances machines and strings, switching between synths and live instruments to keep grooves spacious and the acoustic core upfront, for a set that feels both hand-played and finely produced.
