Info
Alex Isley brings her contemporary R&B with neo-soul shades to KOKO, London on July 2, 2026. Raised between New Jersey and Los Angeles and daughter of guitarist Ernie Isley, she connects gospel, jazz and classic soul to a modern, understated production style. Since her self-produced debut The Love/Art Memoirs (2012), she’s honed a vocal approach built on layered harmonies, unhurried tempos and a close, intimate tone. A series of EPs and collaborations refined that signature, especially with producer Jack Dine, where discreet grooves and soft-focus keys leave room for the melodies. Their album Marigold (2022) sketched a clear blueprint she now takes on stage.
Live, the focus is the voice. Expect a compact setup, rhythm section in gentle sway, keys tracing harmonies, and arrangements that breathe. Songs from Marigold and earlier projects are revisited with subtle shifts in dynamics, small tensions and releases that draw out the writing rather than dress it up. The result is R&B that privileges feel and detail, where phrasing, space and timbre carry the emotion. At KOKO, Isley leans into that closeness, stacking harmonies, stretching lines and letting each track unfold at its own pace.
