Wavves

Wavves brings its San Diego-born mix of lo-fi indie, surf rock, pop-punk and noise pop to Papillon, Southampton on 4 July 2026. Led by songwriter Nathan Williams since 2008, the project grew from raw home recordings into a tight band with Stephen Pope, Alex Gates and Ross Traver. Early albums Wavves (2008) and Wavvves (2009) fixed that fuzzed, melodic impulse; King of the Beach (2010) streamlined the writing and set up a more direct approach carried through Afraid of Heights (2013), V (2015), You’re Welcome (2017) and Hideaway (2021). On stage, the quartet fires through short, nervy songs with saturated guitars and clear, punchy choruses, shifting between garage edges and cleaner power-pop lines without dropping the pace. The set draws across the catalogue, with room for the Life Sux EP and a nod to No Life for Me, their joint release with Cloud Nothings. A show anchored in velocity, hooks and a DIY spirit that has shaped Wavves since the start.
