Info

Bronski Beat’s 1984 debut The Age of Consent returns on 24 May 2026 at Royal Festival Hall, London, reimagined by a queer-led ensemble that pulls its politics and pop hooks into the present. Conceived for the album’s 40th anniversary, the show revisits the record’s candid portraits of 1980s Britain and its call for queer and trans liberation, keeping the focus on the songs while opening them up with new textures and voices.

At the front are Bishi, Planningtorock and Tom Rasmussen, each bringing a distinct approach to the band’s melodies and synth-driven pulse. They’re joined by The Chateau Collective, a specially assembled house band shaping fresh arrangements that stay close to the spirit of the original while widening its sound world. On stage: KK Brown on percussion, Maxie Cheer on drums, Chris Clarke on harp and Tom Foskett-Barnes as musical director and arranger. The project is curated and produced by Laurie Belgrave, with curation consultancy by Lulu Manning.
