BRUIT ≤ — literally “noise” in French — is an experimental quartet from Toulouse formed in 2016. They rose from the ashes of several pop groups on major labels with a clear intent: to escape the industry’s logic and return to creation as a purely artistic process, free from any commercial constraint. Concert at Casa Capitão, Lisbon, on 9 September 2026 at 20:00.
Initially conceived as a studio project, they quickly became a potent live force. The debut EP Monolith (2018, Elusive Sound) paved the way for around twenty concerts in France and Belgium. In 2021 they released their first album — The Machine Is Burning and Now Everyone Knows It Could Happen Again — which earned them a place on Pelagic Records’ roster and more than 50 dates across 12 countries, including appearances at festivals such as Roadburn, ArcTanGent, Amplifest and Dunk! Along the way they shared stages with notable acts like Amenra and EZ3kiel, consolidating their live reputation.
After the contemplative EP Apologie du Temps Perdu (2023), the four members set off on a world tour as M83’s backing band — an experience that influenced their return to the studio in 2024. Written in the heights of the Pyrenees and recorded in an old church in Toulouse, The Age of Ephemerality (Pelagic Records, April 2025) is their second album. The record explores new horizons without betraying the quartet’s sonic roots — post‑rock, contemporary classical music and experimental electronics colliding. True to their convictions, the album is not available on major streaming platforms.
On stage they are four — drums, cello, guitar and bass/violin. They build crescendos that rise to catharsis and dense atmospheres that suddenly shatter.
