Joshua Idehen

Joshua Idehen brings his blend of spoken word, jazz and club-leaning electronics to O2 Institute Birmingham on 13 November 2026. A British‑Nigerian poet, vocalist and bandleader, he builds sets where the voice leads: rhythmic, clear and upfront, turning everyday scenes, social questions and more intimate fragments into lines that lock to the groove. Expect his spoken delivery to weave through supple synths, house and broken‑beat pulses, and arrangements shaded by contemporary jazz.

First noticed with the trio Benin City, Idehen has since shifted between stages and studios, linking with artists across the UK jazz and electronic scenes, including Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming and Daedelus. That back‑and‑forth between live improvisation and production informs his recent releases too, from Learn To Swim with Swedish producer Ludvig Parment to the EP Mum Does The Washing in 2024. Together they sketch a show that keeps text, cadence and rhythm side by side, without choosing between the club and the concert. Special guests join to set the tone.
