If This Is Real marked, in 2022, the birth of an artist capable of naturalizing soul music on the volcanic soils of Auvergne, this new album is the manifesto of a resurrection. And today, Thomas Kahn is no longer content to walk in the footsteps of the giants of Memphis or Philadelphia; he now inhabits his own geography, that of a man who had to relearn how to use his voice in order not to lose his soul.

The tipping point occurred somewhere between two tours, after seventy whirlwind dates, where the body finally presented the bill. “My body said stop. On tour I had a little boy who wasn’t sleeping, I wasn’t sleeping either, and because I give everything on stage, I would be exhausted by the third song,” he recalls. The verdict came: vocal cord surgery in September 2024, followed by a year of silence and rehabilitation. Thomas turned that parenthesis of solitude into a creative crisis unit. In the secrecy of his studio, the walls filled with lyrics and diagrams—an obsessive hunt to find the original spark, the one that justifies baring oneself before a microphone.
