Info
On 23 July 2026 at the Théâtre Silvain in Marseille, Omar Souleyman unveils his signature electronic dabke: clear, forthright vocals, taut tempos and insistent keyboard lines. Born in northeastern Syria, he first sang at weddings and left nearly 500 live cassette recordings before bringing this repertoire to the international stage. Propelled by collaborations with Gorillaz, Björk and Four Tet, he released Wenu Wenu in 2013, then Bahdeni Nami in 2015, followed by To Syria, With Love (2017), SHLON (2019) and ERBIL (2022), albums that extend the link between dabke, Middle Eastern pop and electronic pulses. His career has taken him from local festivities to the stages of Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork Paris and Roskilde, and even to the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 2013. In concert, the dancing tension and the voice–keyboard dialogue that shaped his identity are evident, with brisk rhythms and catchy melodies conceived for the collective.
