Fat Freddy's Drop

On 25 October 2026 at O2 Academy Glasgow, Fat Freddy’s Drop bring their slow-burn reggae-dub and soul-infused grooves to the stage. Formed in Wellington in 1999, the New Zealand crew built their reputation live before heading into the studio, moving from the raw energy of Live at the Matterhorn to milestone albums like Based on a True Story, Dr Boondigga & The Big BW and Blackbird. In concert, they stretch songs into long-form journeys: Joe Dukie’s warm baritone out front, rhythm section locked in deep, keys and guitar colouring the edges with jazz and soul touches, and a brass-led dub swirl pushing everything forward.

Expect bass-heavy currents, patient builds and wide-open delays, with tracks reworked, extended and improvised in the moment. The set moves fluently from roots to funk, touches of house and Pacific soul, always anchored by that unmistakable dub pulse.
