The Fray

Formed in Denver in the early 2000s, The Fray built a piano‑driven alternative rock sound that sits between pop rock and melodic balladry. Centered around singer and pianist Isaac Slade with guitarist Joe King, the band crafts songs with uncluttered guitars, close‑knit harmonies and lyrics that explore relationships and questions of faith. The 2005 album How to Save a Life pushed them beyond their local scene, with Over My Head (Cable Car) and How to Save a Life becoming touchstones of the mid‑2000s. The self‑titled record in 2009, followed by Scars & Stories in 2012 and Helios in 2014, broadened their palette with brighter pop inflections and more atmospheric textures, while steady touring in the US and Europe anchored their reputation on stage. A 2016 best‑of release closed a first chapter before a period of quieter activity.

The Fray return to the UK on 15 November 2026 at O2 Academy Bristol. On stage, their catalogue takes shape around the piano’s pulse and understated guitar lines, moving from early anthems to later, more expansive tracks, with narratives that circle doubt, distance and the effort to mend.
