Dan Whitlam brings his blend of spoken word, alternative rap and performance poetry to Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on 21 October 2026. Rooted in south London, his writing sticks close to everyday lives: house-shares and night buses, friendships in flux, the uneasy shift into adulthood, and bigger social questions, climate anxiety included. On stage, he works in narrative snapshots, a supple phrasing sliding between storytelling and flow, set on lean hip-hop grooves and a soul-inflected voice.

First noticed through short videos, Whitlam has since taken these pieces to London venues and national radio (BBC Radio 4, Radio 1 and BBC Radio London), then onto the road across the UK and Europe. This tour follows Strangers (Again), his debut album released in February 2026, which folds introspection and social observation into concise, rhythm-led tracks. In Nottingham, he lines up material from the record and earlier pieces, shaping a set that moves from quiet confession to spoken word intensity without breaking the thread. Also active as an actor, he brings the same attention to character and scene to his live delivery, keeping the focus on voice, timing and the small details that make a story land.
