Info

The Maccabees are back on stage at Edinburgh Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on 6 July 2026. Formed in London in 2004, the UK indie rock band built its name on tight, guitar-led songs and sharp rhythms, first surfacing with singles like X-Ray and Latchmere. The original core of Orlando Weeks, Felix White, Hugo White and Rupert Jarvis was joined by drummer Sam Doyle in 2008, consolidating a sound that sat between post-punk tension and lean, melodic hooks.

Across four albums — Colour It In (2007), Wall of Arms (2009), Given to the Wild (2012) and Marks to Prove It (2015) — the group moved from brisk early tracks toward a broader, more atmospheric writing style. Given to the Wild earned a Mercury Prize nomination, while Pelican received an Ivor Novello Award, marking a high point in their studio work. After announcing a split in 2016 and playing farewell shows in 2017, The Maccabees returned in 2024.

For this date in Edinburgh, the band digs into its catalogue, from punchy beginnings to the nuanced textures of the later records. On stage, interlocking guitars and a solid rhythm section frame the voice of Orlando Weeks, shaping songs that balance drive and detail without losing their edge.
