Info

Example plays The Great Hall, Cardiff, on 19 May 2026. Behind the mic is Elliot John Gleave, aka Example, a British singer, rapper and producer who came up in mid-2000s London with a hybrid of UK rap, hip house and punchy electronic pop, where spoken verses switch with sung choruses. After early independent singles and debut album What We Made, he pivoted toward the dancefloor with Won’t Go Quietly, a direction he carried through Playing in the Shadows and The Evolution of Man, tightening his sound alongside UK electronic figures like Sub Focus and Nero. A feature with Pet Shop Boys on Thursday underlined his pop sense without losing the hip-hop roots.

Since Live Life Living, he’s kept moving: the mixtape-style Bangers & Ballads, the more rap-centred Some Nights Last for Days, and 2022’s We May Grow Old But We Never Grow Up. On stage, he draws across that catalogue, moving between clipped bars and direct hooks over club-leaning production, equal parts bounce and bite, built for a crowd that wants rhythm and chorus in the same breath.
