Thee Sacred Souls

Thee Sacred Souls bring their California-bred soul to Bristol on 16 July 2026 at The Prospect Building. Formed in San Diego around singer Josh Lane with Sal Samano on bass and Alex Garcia on drums, the trio crafts a direct, analogue sound that leans into 60s and 70s traditions without pastiche. Their repertoire moves from tender ballads to mid-tempo R&B, with a sweet soul touch and hints of Chicano soul, carried by supple bass lines, unfussy drums, discreet horns and close harmonies. Signed via Penrose, the Daptone offshoot, the band cut its teeth on 45s like Can I Call You Rose? and Weak for Your Love before a self-titled debut in 2022, and now brings that warm, detail-focused writing to the stage.

To set the mood and keep it rolling around the live set, expect a Streets of Soul DJ set alongside a Bristol Northern Soul Club takeover. Deep cuts, classic sides and modern selections in the same vein frame the show, drawing a straight line between the band’s present-day take on classic soul and the records that inspired it.
