Info
DeVotchKa comes to Òran Mór, Glasgow, on 6 October 2026 with a set shaped by their blend of indie rock and global folk. Formed in Denver in the late 1990s around singer and composer Nick Urata with Tom Hagerman, Jeanie Schroder and Shawn King, the quartet forged a sound where strings and brass meet cabaret tones, Balkan rhythms and mariachi accents. Early albums SuperMelodrama (2000) and Una Volta (2003) set the course; How It Ends (2004) carried their songs into film and television and preceded their score for Little Miss Sunshine (2006). The discography continued with A Mad & Faithful Telling (2008), 100 Lovers (2011) and a live collaboration with the Colorado Symphony (2012), before the more compact This Night Falls Forever (2018).
On stage, DeVotchKa often expands the lineup, leaning into tempo shifts and orchestral arrangements while Urata’s distinctive voice holds the center. The set draws on the band’s mix of melancholy and momentum, moving between intimate ballads and propulsive folk-rock, a balance that has defined their music from the beginning.
