Info
Black Marble, the minimal-synth project led by Chris Stewart, brings its shadowy pop to Lee’s Palace in Toronto on Monday, September 7, 2026. Launched in Brooklyn in 2011, the project has carved out a lean, melodic approach: steady drum-machine patterns, spare basslines and a voice set slightly back in the mix, all bathed in a cool, nocturnal atmosphere. From the early EP Weight Against the Door and the debut album A Different Arrangement to It’s Immaterial, then Bigger Than Life, the covers set I Must Be Living Twice and Fast Idol, Stewart has refined a concise writing style at the crossroads of cold wave, synth-pop and a softened post-punk. On stage, that language tightens further, trading excess for propulsion: clipped rhythms, analog hues and synth motifs that hook without shouting, a set built on tension, motion and clean lines.
Public Circuit joins the bill, opening the night before Black Marble steps in with his laconic, slow-blooming electronics.
