Fat Freddy’s Drop bring the Based On A True Story – 21st Anniversary Tour to Progresja in Warsaw on 14 June 2026. Formed in Wellington in 1999, the New Zealand collective made its name on stage, building long, slow-burn grooves where reggae and dub meet soul and understated electronics. Their first studio album, Based On A True Story (2005), pushed them from Aotearoa to European festivals like Glastonbury and Sonar; two decades later, they return to that milestone and rework it live, letting each track evolve through improvisation.

At the core is Joe Dukie’s laid-back voice (Dallas Tamaira), locked to Fitchie’s production sense (Chris Faiumu), Dobie Blaze’s keys (Iain Gordon) and Jetlag Johnson’s guitar (Tehimana Kerr). The band leans into deep bass, echo-soaked skank, rolling percussion and patient builds that keep the room moving without forcing the tempo. Songs open out into jams, then snap back into tight hooks, the way they’ve always done it on stage.
