My New Band Believe

My New Band Believe is the mutating project of Cameron Picton, launched after the closure of black midi in 2023, where he was the bassist and one of the vocalists. More than a solo project, it operates as an open ensemble that shifts with each song and each performance, featuring collaborators from the British experimental scene such as Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble and members of caroline. Here the taut pulse of his former band's rock gives way to predominantly acoustic writing: English folk, baroque pop, chamber rock and experimental song crossing paths in fluid forms. The compositions advance by contrast, with oblique narratives, changes in dynamics and collective arrangements that assemble and disassemble in real time. On 2 November 2026 at Cadavra in Madrid, My New Band Believe presents this approach live, with a lineup gathered for the occasion and a repertoire that breathes, unfolds and refolds, preserving Picton’s taste for unstable structures within a more stripped-down framework attentive to folk tradition.
