On 3 August 2026 Protest The Hero will play at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The Canadian band from Whitby weaves progressive metal, metalcore and a touch of mathcore into songs with sharp turns: technical guitar lines, irregular time signatures and vocals that shift between melodic passages and tenser outbursts. The set draws from different phases of their career, from Kezia and Fortress via the fan-funded Volition to Palimpsest. The core around vocalist Rody Walker and guitarist/composer Luke Hoskin continues to play with structure and dynamics: building up, breaking down, restarting—always with an eye for the hook.
Vianova provides the support. The Berlin-based project of brothers Felix and Paul Vogelgesang has been delivering a modern metalcore sound since 2014 that is both intense and melodic, with a distinct human touch. In 2024 they moved to the Arising Empire label, marking a new phase toward tightly written tracks with pulsing riffs, crisp breaks and a visual identity that mirrors their music. Live, Vianova sets the tone with immediate impact and a focus on melody, serving as a prelude to Protest The Hero’s more technically detailed set.
