Cisco Ferreira, known as The Advent and based in London, can be described in various ways: musician, pioneer, and sound designer. The Advent is recognized for his approach to techno. Since the young Portuguese Cisco discovered acid house in the London clubs he frequented, his mission has been to carve out his own niche in electronic music.

After finishing university, Cisco’s passion for sound led him to a position as an assistant sound engineer in numerous recording studios. There he refined his ability to turn emotions into sound while recording a variety of prominent artists across genres such as rock, pop, dance, and reggae. When one of the early house labels, Jack Trax, set up right next door, Cisco began recording for names like Adonis, Fingers Inc., Marshall Jefferson, and Derrick May. These experiences inspired his first EPs, released on R&S Records, Network, and Fragile.

In 1994, Ferreira secured a recording contract with Internal/FFRR for 12 EPs and 3 albums alongside Colin McBean. This marked the beginning of a period in which the duo cemented their approach to electro and underground techno. They made a name for themselves with a distinctive sound, both as The Advent and under the aliases G Flame (Cisco) and Mr. G (which Colin still uses). Today, The Advent is a solo project with a raw, energetic sound.

Men arrived in Barcelona a few years ago after playing clubs in his native Cantabrian region (La Real, Locomotive, Whipporwill), where he began to stand out behind the decks from the early 1990s. After settling by the Mediterranean, he started to build a reputation with his sets. His style is pressure-driven, high-energy techno with a relentless kick drum, influenced by other styles such as industrial sounds, Detroit’s hard funk, and the more danceable side of IDM.
