Novorama 20th Anniversary

Novorama celebrates its 20th anniversary on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Pop-up du Label with an evening of concerts and a club night. The webzine and radio show, created in 2006, highlight emerging indie and electronic music. The night will open with the experimental electronic pop of 21Lab, continue with Chien Méchant, then feature Boreal’s first live performance since his collaboration with Boston Bun, and finish on the dancefloor with Soyé and The Venus Project, Novorama’s two resident DJs.

21Lab
An Italian–Swedish duo based in the Paris region. Sofie’s voice and Martino’s electric bass sit at the heart of a sound world that draws as much from experimental electronics as from pop and jazz. Their album Under the Covers, released in early 2026, moves through dreamy, psychedelic atmospheres, afro‑electronic grooves and moments of hypnotic tension. 21Lab doesn’t try to explain itself; the duo invites the listener to pass through different states and to accept that not everything needs resolution.

Chien Méchant (Nowadays Records)
On one side, Gabriel, drumsticks in hand (Terrenoire, Cola Boyy…). On the other, Facundo on synths. Together they form Chien Méchant, a duo of friends who met on the benches of a barbershop (and at school), wondering whether groove, rock, funk and synths could still coexist for the duration of a project. Their debut album Métamorphose, produced by Grand Marnier (Yelle) and mixed by Ouais Stéphane, sees Gabriel and Facundo deconstruct preconceptions about pop.

Boreal (Circa 99’)
A French multi‑instrumentalist and producer, Boreal draws inspiration from an English‑tinged electronic scene championed by artists like Overmono, Caribou and Four Tet. His colorful, introspective world blends UK rhythms with rich textures and sunlit harmonies. After several remixes and collaborations—including onstage work with Boston Bun—he is now releasing his own productions on his label Circa 99’. For Novorama’s 20th anniversary at the Pop-up du Label, Boreal will perform his new live set.

Novorama Soundsystem
Novorama’s resident DJs (Soyé + The Venus Project) will take the audience on an electronic journey through the past 20 years, drawing on house, electro and afrodisco.
