On April 15, 2026, at the Grillen in Colmar, three visions of modern metal converge with Iotunn, In Vain and Nephylim.
Iotunn, from Denmark, develops a progressive metal at the crossroads of melodic death and modern heavy. Dense riffs, airy melodic lines and contrasting vocals carry narratives with a cosmic imagination. Their album Access All Worlds (2021) laid the groundwork for a narrative set in which tension and breathing spaces follow one another without losing impact.
In Vain, the Norwegian formation, navigates between progressive death metal and black-inflected influences. Carefully worked arrangements, alternating clean and harsh vocals, guitars rendered in chiaroscuro: the band has played on contrast from The Latter Rain (2007) through Ænigma and Currents to Solemn (2024). On stage, these long compositions gain in relief and dynamics.
Nephylim, from the Netherlands, pushes a contemporary melodic death metal that is both tense and melodic. Severance (2020) already demonstrated a taste for thick atmospheres and lyrical climaxes. The band favors immersion, chaining rhythmic impacts with more open passages for a direct and effective set.
