Roméo & Juliette

Roméo & Juliette, the musical by Gérard Presgurvic, returns to the stage on 25 February 2028 at the Zénith in Dijon. Since 2001, the production has brought Shakespeare’s love story to life through orchestral pop and choreographed tableaux. Translated into 18 languages and performed in 20 countries, it has drawn a broad audience and embedded songs such as Les Rois du monde and Aimer in popular culture.

At the heart of this venture, the duo originally formed by Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara helped shape the show’s identity. Their trajectory—from adolescent beginnings to a more mature reading of the characters—has enriched the performances and the audience’s attachment. Around them, the company delivers a score conceived for the stage—choirs, duets and family confrontations—that unfolds the tapestry of Verona through compact tableaux.

The new incarnation embraces contemporary codes — a refreshed cast, redesigned costumes and scenography — while preserving the essentials: well-known songs, clear storytelling and collective energy. Running through it all is a question that transcends time and sustains the production: how far are we willing to go for love?
