Sick Thoughts

On May 3, 2026, Sick Thoughts comes to Dabadaba in Donostia / San Sebastián. Behind the name is Drew Owen, a multi-instrumentalist who launched the project in his teens in Baltimore and now operates out of New Orleans. Recorded, mixed and pared down to the essentials by Owen himself, his sound blends the rough energy of garage punk with KBD echoes, short, direct songs, a lo-fi aesthetic and an unrelenting pulse. Over the years, Owen has sharpened melodies and tightened arrangements without diluting the rawness that marked his early work, moving between classic punk, a touch of power pop and straightforward rock'n'roll.

On stage, Sick Thoughts functions as a full band: guitars up front, fast rhythms and seamless transitions that chain song after song. A broad repertoire feeds the set, spanning singles, EPs and LPs released on labels such as Goner, Total Punk and Goodbye Boozy, as well as his own ROKK Records. The mini-album Another Piece of Plastic, released in 2025, adds crisp hooks to that direct approach; live, those tracks sit alongside earlier cuts, maintaining a balance between immediacy, noise and edge.
