Why is Jackies called Jackies?
Many people wonder where the name Jackies comes from. "Jackies" is derived from the phrase "Jack Your Body." This phrase became popular with the song "Jack Your Body" by Steve "Silk" Hurley, released in 1986. This track was an early hit in house music and helped introduce the word "Jack" as a term in the language of the genre. In house music, "Jack" refers to a characteristic dance style and the physical sensation of moving to the rhythm of the music. The song was a hit in Chicago’s nightclubs and later in Europe, where it reached number one in the UK in 1987.
