Oslo Gospel Choir « En stjerne skinner i nat »

Oslo Gospel Choir brings its seasonal program En stjerne skinner i nat to MCH Herning Kongrescenter in Herning on 28 November 2026. Founded in Oslo in 1988 by choir leader and composer Tore W. Aas, the ensemble shaped a Nordic take on gospel that blends layered choral harmonies, soul inflections and a contemporary pop sensibility. Composed of committed amateur and semi-professional singers from diverse church communities, the choir builds its sound on clearly defined voice sections, featured soloists drawn from within the group and a compact rhythm section that supports without overpowering the voices. On stage, the repertoire moves between Norwegian and English, linking original pieces by Aas with reworked hymns and spirituals, a line developed since early releases like This Is the Day and the Christmas album Tusen Julelys. For this concert, the set leans on Scandinavian Christmas songs and familiar gospel standards, arranged for choir and band, with En stjerne skinner i nat as the guiding theme and a focus on melody, close harmonies and collective energy.
