Info
Metal Church and Armored Saint join forces at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen on July 30, 2026, for a night rooted in US heavy metal. Two bands forged in the early eighties, two catalogs that span from rapid-fire riffing to melodic hooks.
Built around guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, Metal Church first broke out from the Bay Area before planting roots in Washington State, blending traditional heavy with a budding thrash edge and flashes of power metal. Early landmarks like the self-titled debut and The Dark set the tone, while Blessing in Disguise and The Human Factor pushed toward tighter, more structured songwriting. After pauses and returns through the 2000s, the band continues with vocalist Marc Lopes on Congregation of Annihilation (2023), carrying its original spirit forward on stage.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1982, Armored Saint leans on twin-guitar drive and the lead vocals of John Bush, balancing grit and melody. March of the Saint, Delirious Nomad and Raising Fear framed the early years, with Symbol of Salvation marking a key chapter in 1991. Reunited around its core lineup since the late nineties, the group has kept the thread through Revelation, La Raza, Win Hands Down and Punching the Sky, shaping setlists that pull across four decades.
