Info

Sort Sol play Det Kongelige Teater in København on 14 May 2026. Born in late‑70s Copenhagen as Sods, the band started with sharp, abrasive punk before widening its scope toward post‑punk, cold wave shades and a lean, melodic tension. Around Steen Jørgensen’s deep, detached voice, with Knud Odde and Tomas Ortved as anchors, Sort Sol have spent decades shifting the balance between atmosphere and impact, guitars and silence, noise flashes and clear lines.

From Minutes to Go and Under en sort sol to Dagger & Guitar and Everything That Rises Must Converge, the group set a stripped, nervy language that later opened up on Flow My Firetear, Glamourpuss and Unspoiled Monsters, then tightened again with Snakecharmer. After a long pause, Stor Langsom Stjerne marked their return in 2017, extending that mix of shadow and melody. On stage, the set tends to move across eras: early Sods cuts, widescreen 90s material, and the later songs where the band slow the pace to let textures breathe. Jørgensen’s baritone leads the way, deadpan and precise, while the rhythm section holds a cool pulse under guitars that alternate between bite and haze. A night built on tension, release and songs that still carry weight, right in the city where it all began.
