Black Sea Dahu

Black Sea Dahu plays TRAIN in Aarhus on 6 October 2026. The project led by Zurich-born singer and songwriter Janine Cathrein brings a folk sound shaped by a low, warm voice, close harmonies and arrangements built around guitars, strings and understated percussion. Initially known as Josh, the band found its footing with the 2018 album White Creatures, then tightened the frame on the EP No Fire In The Sand the same year. In 2022, I Am My Mother widened the palette with more electric textures and roomier song structures while keeping the intimate core of the writing.

On stage, Black Sea Dahu moves like a small collective: a close-knit group of musicians joining Cathrein in variable line-ups, from a stripped-back set to a fuller ensemble. The live versions lean into dynamics and detail, letting the songs breathe and the voices carry the narrative. Expect a journey through the catalog, from the hushed folk of the early tracks to the broader contours of the latest material, all anchored by careful songwriting and a sense of closeness that defines the project.
