Rawayana

Rawayana will play Melkweg in Amsterdam on 18 September 2026. The quartet from Caracas has been developing its own blend of reggae, rock, pop and Caribbean rhythms since 2007, characterized by a warm sound and often midtempo grooves. From the debut Licencia para ser libre (2011) and Rawayanaland (2013) the band brought subtle psychedelia, funk and a more pronounced Latin pulse to the fore. With Trippy Caribbean (2016) the smooth grooves and multi-part vocals were given extra space, while Cuando los Acéfalos Predominan (2021) introduced darker hues and influences from alt-pop and hip-hop, without letting go of their signature reggae-fusion. Live, Rawayana weaves those phases together effortlessly: melodic Spanish singing, guitar hooks with a sunlit edge, and rhythms that shift between laid-back and danceable. Expect a set that travels through different chapters of their journey, from relaxed Caribbean flow to tighter, more driven passages, with plenty of room for harmonies and groove.
