Info
Arkells roll into Montréal with a set that traces their arc from early indie rock grit to pop-leaning grooves. Formed in Hamilton, the band built its sound on guitar-led hooks, gang vocals and a rhythm section that keeps things moving. Fronted by Max Kerman, they shift easily between the punch of Jackson Square, the cleaner, melodic contours of Michigan Left and High Noon, and the brass-tinged, soul-influenced turns heard on Morning Report and Rally Cry. The acoustic detour of Campfire Chords often reimagines familiar songs, while Blink Once and Blink Twice add synth textures and collaborative angles. Laundry Pile pulls the writing in closer, with detail-first storytelling.
Live, the balance is simple: songs first, energy second, polish last. Call-and-response breaks, unison choruses and quick dynamic swings carry the room. Older staples sit next to newer cuts without strain, moving from quiet verses to big, collective releases. Keys and occasional horn flourishes round out arrangements that lean into melody without losing momentum.
Arkells play Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal on June 6, 2026.
