Info
Royal Tusk lands at SAW, Ottawa, on May 17, 2026 with a set built for thick riffs and melodic punch. Formed in Edmonton in the early 2010s around singer-guitarist Daniel Carriere, the band has shaped a sound at the crossroads of contemporary hard rock, grunge heritage and a hint of blues: heavy guitars up front, a tight rhythm section, and vocals that keep the hooks in focus.
On stage, Royal Tusk leans into the weight they pushed on Tusk II and carried through Altruistic (2024), favoring darker textures, slower grooves and dense guitars without losing clarity in the choruses. Expect the newer tracks to sit alongside cuts from the Mountain EP (2014) and DealBreaker (2016), tracing the group’s path from raw alternative edges to more direct, hard-hitting writing. Lyrically, the band circles everyday pressure, disillusion and the will to push through; live, that tension turns into sharp dynamics and steady, driving energy.
Years of club and festival runs across North America have honed the set: concise, loud, and focused on impact rather than polish. Special guests are to be announced, but the evening pivots around Royal Tusk’s current chapter and the heavier tone they’ve embraced.
