Covet

Covet lands at Lee’s Palace, Toronto, on June 12, 2026. The California trio led by guitarist-composer Yvette Young explore an instrumental space between math rock, post-rock and prog. On stage, Young’s tapped melodies and bright harmonies thread through a rhythm section that shifts with quiet precision, moving from airy figures into knotty grooves and back again. The music balances clarity and contrast: clean tones, fluid phrasing, and motifs that evolve, refract and resolve without losing their melodic line.

The set draws across the band’s catalog, from the unfolding patterns of effloresce to the dream-tinged colors of technicolor, through the denser, more percussive writing on catharsis. Pieces build by layers rather than solos, playing with counterpoint and syncopation, letting tension rise and release in measured waves. With special guests, the bill leans toward melody with angles, rhythms that breathe and textures that keep shifting without breaking the flow.
