bar italia is scheduled to appear at Melkweg, Amsterdam on 15 March 2026. The London trio — Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton — moves between post-punk, slowcore and indie rock. Their songs rest on muted guitars, minimalist basslines and voices that alternate and interlock. Initially connected to the network around Dean Blunt and the World Music label, the band quietly released its early material on cassettes and digital editions. With Quarrel (2020) and Bedhead (2021) they established a spare, rough-hewn signature. In 2023 two records followed on Matador Records, Tracey Denim and The Twits, and they toured more intensively across the UK, Europe and North America.

On stage, bar italia translates that aesthetic into a direct format: the trio shares vocals, keeps tempos restrained, and creates tension through repetition and slight shifts in the arrangements. Without ornamentation or long flourishes, the set moves from song to song, with a focus on interplay and the friction between melody and texture.
