Lexa Gates

Lexa Gates will perform on 26 June 2026 at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Born in New York and raised between Puerto Rico and Queens, she began singing and playing piano at an early age, left school at fifteen and has been producing her own tracks since she was seventeen. As a rapper and producer she operates at the heart of contemporary American hip-hop, with a string of records that sharply trace her development: Order of Events (2020), Delirium and Hungry (2021), Universe Wrapped in Flesh (2022), Elite Vessel (2024) and I Am (2026).

Around her releases Lexa Gates often builds a performative layer: for Elite Vessel she locked herself in a glass box on Union Square for ten hours, and for I Am she installed an immersive installation at the Jeffrey Deitch Gallery featuring a human hamster-wheel contraption. Live, that physical and conceptual approach translates into a direct set that places lyrics, voice and production at the center. Expect new material from I Am alongside tracks from earlier projects, with the focus on her idiosyncratic flow and the tightly constructed beats that carry her narrative. On 26 June at the Melkweg all of this will come together in a show that clearly maps her trajectory from studio to stage.
