MEROL

On 19 November 2026 MEROL performs at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Singer and performer Merel Baldé builds her Dutch-language pop on synths, tight beats and a cabaret-like flair that comes from her acting background. She broke through with direct and ironic songwriting — think “Lekker met de meiden” — in which she tackles sexuality, gender roles, partying and social pressure head-on. On her album Troostprijs (2022) she blends those sharp observations with greater introspection, while keeping the hooks and choruses accessible.

Live, MEROL brings the theatre into the club: playful choreography, precise timing and a knowing wink, supported by retro synth lines and productions made for movement. The set switches between danceable pop and more narrative moments, with room for new tracks alongside songs that have grown into sing-alongs. Expect a show in which her stage personality and lyrics are central, tightly shaped by a band that keeps the tempo high and builds the tension.
