Info

On 2 April 2026, Cairokee will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The Cairo band, centered around singer and guitarist Amir Eid, has been developing its own blend since the mid-2000s: alternative rock and pop with electric guitars, keyboards and a prominent rhythm section, interwoven with Middle Eastern melodies and occasional spoken passages that verge on rap. Just before 2011, Cairokee switched from English-language covers to their own material in Arabic; songs like Sout El Horeya and Ya El Midan became associated with a generation searching for its place in a rapidly changing city.

On albums such as Matloob Zaeem (2011), El Sekka Shemal (2014), Noaata Beida (2017) and Abna’a El Bota (2019), the group focuses on everyday frictions, youthful doubts and social shifts, with a strong emphasis on lyrics and sing-along choruses. Live, this turns into a direct exchange with the audience, who take up the hooks in unison. In Utrecht, Cairokee will bring that mix of street-level stories and memorable melodies to the stage.
