Lucky Fonz III

On 11 April 2026 Lucky Fonz III will be performing at Patronaat in Haarlem. Behind the name is Otto Wichers, a songwriter who, since the mid-2000s, has navigated between folk, pop and Dutch-language songwriting. His first albums were in English (Lucky Fonz III, Life is Short, A Family Like Yours) and sounded intimate and acoustic. With the album Hoe je honderd wordt zonder dat je het merkt he switched to Dutch, which made his lyrics more direct and playful. After that his sound opened up: In je nakie, Hemellichamen and Multimens blend kleinkunst with Americana accents and memorable melodies.

Live, Lucky Fonz III likes to keep things personal. Songs are interspersed with short spoken bits and dry humor, without losing momentum. In Haarlem you can expect a set that places older and newer material side by side: storytelling verses, clear choruses, acoustic intimacy with the occasional more fully realised passage. No grand gestures, but a focus on rhythm, language and timing. The result is an evening where song and story sit close together, with room for nuance and small surprises.
